In this presentation we will look at the dense flow of an assembly of spherical particles situated between two horizontal flat plates where the lower plate is fixed and heated, and the upper plate is set into motion with a constant velocity and is at a lower temperature than the lower plate. We derive the steady fully developed flow due to shear and study the heat transfer to particles, which are modeled using continuum mechanics. The equations are made dimensionless and the effects of different dimensionless numbers and viscous dissipation are discussed.
