This award is sponsored by the Society for Biological Engineers. In memory of Professor Jay Bailey for his many pioneering contributions to biotechnology, the award is presented to an individual who has had an important impact on bioengineering and whose achievements have advanced this profession in any of its aspects. The recipient should have a distinguished record of service to the profession. They should also be involved in the direct engagement of biology with engineering. Supported by the generous donors of the AIChE Foundation. In appreciation of Prof. Daniel I.C. Wang's contributions to education and research in biochemical engineering as well as his technological innovations in bioprocessing. This award has been established by the Society for Biological Engineering. The award will be presented to a distinguished biochemical engineer and biotechnologist by the Biochemical Technology Division of the American Chemical Society and by the Food, Pharmaceuticals and Bioengineering Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Society of Biological Engineering. In recognition of June Wispelwey’s outstanding leadership as the founding Executive Director of the Society for Biological Engineering (SBE) and outgoing Executive Director and CEO of AIChE, the June Wispelwey Bio Leadership Fellowship was established in her honor. It is a fitting tribute to her work and legacy in advancing and raising the visibility of bioengineers within and beyond chemical engineering.
