2025 AIChE Annual Meeting

Session: Next Generation Agriculture and Plant Biotechnology: Agricultural Sensing Technologies

Innovative approaches are urgently required to alleviate the growing pressure on agriculture to meet the rising demand for food. This session will highlight work and new innovation addressing key challenges for plant biology, crop engineering and precision agriculture. Abstracts could cover topics from new analytical tools that provide tissue-, cell- or organelle-specific information on living plants in real time, with the potential to extend across multiple species in field applications. Abstracts from both open field and controlled environment agriculture are encouraged. Abstracts highlighting interdisciplinary approaches, from computational modeling to scalable production technologies, are highly encouraged. We are also interested in topics such as genetic engineering for enhanced crop traits, metabolic engineering of plants for production of high-value compounds, and the use of synthetic biology tools to improve plant-based systems.
