Biobased polymers such as polyhdroxy alkanoates, polylactic acid (PLA), and poly glutamic acid (PGA) are attractive substitutes for plastic materials because they biodegrade in the environment. Natural fiber composites including wood-plastic composites also well known as lingo-cellulosic biocomposites are attracting recent attractions in substituting glass-filled and mineral-filled composite materials in sustainable manufacturing. Biocomposites show immense attention in lightweight automotive parts and green building structures uses. This session encourages papers on biodegradable and bioresourced polymers such as PHAs, PLA, lignin biopolymers, and such biodegradable materials, their processing, properties and applications and studies on composites from petro-based plastic resins such as polypropylene (PP), unsaturated polyester as well as renewable resource-based plastics such as polylactide (PLA), biobased epoxy etc. and biofiber, biomass and biofiller (including bioethanol co-products like DDGS; algal biomass etc.).
