Working at the interface of the burgeoning field of systems biology was a hallmark of the Stephanopoulos group around the turn of the century, with research from metabolomics to cDNA micorarrays. This also cemented the group working at the interface of computational and experimental efforts, branding the group as both metabolic engineering and bioinformatics. The group’s existence at the interface had a formative and lasting impact on me. In this presentation, I will talk about some of my own work at different disciplinary interfaces as well as some of the work at disciplinary interfaces by my Stephanopoulos group contemporaries.
