(136d) Using Nanopore Sequencing in Metabolic Engineering Applications

Author

Kang Zhou - Presenter, National University of Singapore
Nanopore Sequencing is an affordable long-read sequencing technology that could produce data in hours. I will discuss my group’s recent works on applying this technology in improving protein engineering, CRISPRa-based screening, and diagnosis of pathway engineering. The fresh data reveal unexpected plasmid rearrangement and highlight the impact of hidden promoters and terminators within coding sequence on the associated metabolic pathways. I will also share my thoughts on how this technology could be applied in the near future to facilitate other aspects of Metabolic Engineering.
