Artificial intelligence (AI) has significant potential for use in many fields relevant to chemical engineers. Use of AI can reduce the time and resources needed for modeling, optimization, material traceability, advance process control, and even discovery and development of novel materials. It is critical that users understand the intellectual property implications of the use of AI. This presentation will provide basic information regarding protectable components of AI-related work and tools that can be considered for protecting and monetizing resulting IP.
