Thixotropic fluids often exhibit steady shear banding and a yield stress that is time-dependent. Following some reflections on my associations with Andy Acrivos I will briefly describe work with Yogesh Joshi and Daniel Bonn that addresses the time-dependent yield stress and shear banding.
