The organizational structure of the fledging Process Development Division (PDD) was the focus of a Short Course during the 2005 AIChE Spring Meeting held in Atlanta. This presentation will take us back to a time when PDD had fully developed the four initial focus areas, Innovation & Research, Pilot Plant / Scale-up, Technology Transfer, and Manufacturing.
Several select slides used for that short course will be presented to show the a.) what, b.) who, and c.) how each area functioned, concluding with an overview of how all areas were integrated into what the Process Development Division was 20 years ago. One may find that many of the elements presented remain germane in today’s PDD.
