This presentation will examine gaps in process technology development and scaleup timeline, from conceptual design to commercial deployment. We will explore how these gaps arise when technology changes hands, either between direct actors (academia, government, small & large businesses), change of main source of funding (government, philanthropy, industry, investors, lenders), and dominant risk profile (R&D, tech scaling, commercialization.) Furthermore, we will propose that increasing collaborative approaches throughout the technology lifetime lessen these negative effects by incorporating different, often complementary as well as sometimes confronted, insights from different stakeholder groups reflecting their intrinsic priorities and biases.
