(673b) Overcoming Scale-up Challenges in Drying Thermo-Sensitive Materials – a Thin-Film Evaporation Approach

Scaling up drying processes for thermo-sensitive pharmaceutical compounds presents unique challenges, particularly in preserving product integrity and achieving uniform drying. This presentation examines how horizontal, thin-film evaporation offers potential for a scalable drying solution for transitioning from bench-scale research to commercial manufacturing. We present case studies showcasing the successful scale-up of drying processes for heat-sensitive materials, replacing or enhancing traditional spray and freeze-drying methods. Key considerations such as residence time control, temperature sensitivity, and are discussed. This session will provide practical strategies for overcoming scale-up hurdles in pharmaceutical and other drying applications.
