This document discusses the major transformation projects such as Up gradation from a standalone control system to state-of-the-art Centum VP R6.04 DCS and the Commissioning of Prosafe RS R4 Emergency Shutdown system executed during the 60 days Turnaround at Ammonia Plant-PAFL. This paper starts with an overview of the problem statement followed by the solution proposed, execution strategy, major problems faced, and their real-time solutions using the holistic functional approach with the major advantage of setting up unique modelling which was plant specific. An overview of the resources involved and limitations is also given.
