(411b) Data-Driven and Physics-Aware Reduced-Order Modeling of Systems with Chaotic Dynamics

Jim Rawlings is an inspiring member of the Chemical Engineering community and I'm proud to call him my colleague, coauthor and friend. This presentation will describe work from my research group on modeling and control of complex nonlinear dynamical systems using methods from machine learning, as well as some reminiscences about my interactions with Jim during his time at Wisconsin.
