2024 AIChE Annual Meeting

Session: Separation Advances in Nuclear Chemical Processing

Effective separation of radionuclides (for nuclear reprocessing or energy applications) and waste fractions (for government defense waste handling and treatment) has been an important research area in chemical engineering for several decades.  This session seeks presentations that describe novel new approaches in separation techniques, advances in existing separation technologies, relevant test/model data of interest, or chemical processing related to advanced nuclear reactors; including small modular, sodium-cooled, gas-cooled, and molten salt reactors. Topics could cover spent fuel recycle chemistries and systems, process salt clean-up, process monitoring, waste form production, and utilization of reactor heat for industrial chemical processing.
