This symposium focuses on current research in advanced battery systems, including not only lithium-ion but also "beyond" lithium-ion technologies. Battery chemistries include, but are not limited to, lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, calcium, and aluminum batteries. Presenters are encouraged to present fundamental understanding of electrochemical reaction mechanisms, interfacial processes, or degradation reactions, as well as new or advanced battery materials that provide enhanced electrochemical properties or unique advantages in terms of energy density, power density, cost, safety, and/or sustainability. Both experimental and theoretical studies are solicited.
