This work aims to experimentally study the slip between the phases for a variable liquid viscosity in a 2m length, liquid solid circulating fluidized bed column. The effect of total liquid velocity and liquid viscosity on slip velocity was studied and found that slip velocity is greater than the particle terminal velocity and it decreased with an increase in secondary and viscosity of liquids for all the solids considered in the study. A generalized correlation to predict slip velocity in an LSCFB riser which depends on size, density of solids and viscosity of fluid has been developed. The predicted model was found to be validated with the experimental results. The study also covered the analysis of maximum liquid and solid velocity
