Abstract:

Amphiphilic bottlebrush polymer surfactants (BB-Sf) exhibit critical micelle concentration values that are 1-2 orders of magnitude lower than their linear counterparts, making them promising candidates for improving the stabilization of micellar systems. However, the effect of hydrophobic and hydrophilic domain sequence in BB-Sfs on interfacial, thermal, and shear properties remains underexplored. In this talk, we report the synthesis of topologically precise BB-Sfs using discrete macromonomers (Đ ~1.0). By varying their architectures and side chain chemistries, we examine the impact of each structural parameter on the solubility, micellization, dynamic interfacial tensions, and thermal and shear stability of bottlebrush polymer surfactants (BB-Sf).
