(4gf) Decarbonize Material Industries with Clean Energy and Climate Technology
Author
Materials science plays a key role in lowering carbon emissions from the energy sector by developing clean energy generation and high-performance energy storage. However, the majority of the remaining emissions are produced by materials industries. My group will focus on developing advanced technologies for recovering valuable materials, with reduced/zero carbon emission, low-cost energy platforms, and closed-loop chemical circularity. We will achieve this by designing and optimizing electrochemical and chemical processes, exploring energy conversion and storage systems under extreme conditions, and establishing reliable technoeconomic analysis and life cycle assessment.
Teaching Interests
My overarching goal in teaching is to develop students as critical thinkers, providing them with a solid knowledge foundation and illuminating the societal implications of the discipline in an inspiring, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. I expect to engage with future scientists and engineers through mentoring, teaching, and outreach. Our joint effort will impact the research and education community beyond my group.
