Understanding the dynamics of gas molecules in solid-state polymers is important for a variety of applications especially gas separation processes. The chemical structure of polymer has a crucial role in determining their intrinsic gas sorption features. However, considering the fact that gas molecules sorb through a thermodynamic void in a dense polymeric films and the packing density of a polymer is influenced by polymer functional groups, a question has arisen concerning the relationship between physical structures and gas sorption properties. We here explore gas sorption kinetics using polysaccharides. Polysaccharides offer well-controlled and defined physicochemical structures. Through our analysis, we focus on finding how the physical structure of polysaccharides influences gas sorption properties. More detailed will be presented in this presentation.
