(379m) Development of a Calculator for Gibbs Energy of Formation
Author
Oil and gas production and geothermal wells can easily develop inorganic scales making flow assurance a critical issue for their production. We have extended predictive scale formation models to high-temperature, low-pressure (HTLP) conditions to proactively mitigate deposition of minerals in HTLP pressure conditions. Here, we have developed an interactive user interface and sub-routines from a Mathematica code to support a user-friendly web calculator for aqueous thermodynamic properties.
This presentation will display the QRcode that users can scan then select the species of interest, the temperature and pressure to calculate the Gibbs free energy values needed to predict the mineral scale formation. The user-friendly calculator will be available on the NETL’s Energy Data Exchange (EDX) to provide easy access to these recent advances for the scientific community.
