(364ak) Integrated Machine Learning Prediction of Cardiac Fibrosis and Heart Failure Patients.

Prediction of cardiac fibrosis and the subsequent heart failure has been very challenging for clinicians. Currently, I am exploring the prospect of using mechanistic models and machine learning to predict heart failure patients. Below is the detail of my research and industrial experience:
Research Experience
Wastewater treatment: Here, I researched using a new membrane system for treating poultry processing wastewater. The poultry processing industry is one of the largest consumers of water. We explored the possibility of using a stainless-steel membrane system to treat the wastewater as a potential system to minimize (perhaps eliminate) the biofouling of the membrane. The result was compared with other membranes, and it shows that the membrane has an excellent potential for treating wastewater with organic fouling.
Integrated model for cardiac fibrosis and heart failure: My research involves developing mechanistic and machine learning models to predict heart failure. We are exploring the idea of combining our mechanistic model with machine learning. Data from patients’ blood samples are used as input for the model. The result showed that combined machine learning performed better than ordinary neural networks.
Industrial experience
Process Engineer at Water Treatment Unit: I had the privilege of working as a process engineer at the water treatment unit of a refinery and fertilizer plant in Nigeria. In this work, I worked as a field engineer and DCS officer. The work includes monitoring the processing units, supervising the activities of contractors, preparation and monitoring the dosing chemical tanks.
Executive Trainee at Fluid Catalytic Cracking Operation: I spent two months at Engineer India Limited (EIL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in India for five months. At EIL, I did a holistic study of the design and operation of petroleum refineries. The work includes the crude distillation unit, fluid catalytic cracking, sulfur recovery unit, hydrocracking unit, and their subunits. Upon completing my training at EIL, I spent three months at BPCL, Mumbai, where I was posted to the fluid catalytic cracking unit and worked as both field and panel operator.
