(191g) Life Cycle of a Catalyst: From Inception, Design, and Manufacturing to Operation

Author

Engelmeyer, M. - Presenter, Clariant Corporation
Not only the development but optimization of catalyst manufacturing plays a crucial role for a multitude of chemical processes, directly impacting efficiency and sustainability across industries. Combining a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with eight years of experience, this presentation depicts the life cycle of a catalyst, from inception and design through manufacturing and customer operation, with an emphasis on scale up and production.

With the objective to improve current catalyst manufacturing, the importance of often small observations during experimental trials, cannot be over emphasized. They play a crucial role when considering the rigors a catalyst undergoes during production, transportation, loading, and ultimately a successful operation during its lifetime. Understanding a Catalyst’s lifecycle from conception to implementation, along with important considerations at each development stage, including various types of catalyst and production methods, provides the highest probability of success.
