(250g) Invited Talk: Synthetic Biology and Process Integration for Biofuels Production from Renewable Resources

Recent advances in synthetic biology and novel integrated bioprocesses for biofuels and chemicals production from plant biomass and industrial wastes will be reviewed. This talk will highlight several fermentation products, including butanol, propionic acid, and poly-malic acid, using engineered microbes in high-cell-density fermentation with integrated in-situ product separation for enhanced product titer, rate, and yield. Factors contributing to and engineering strategies for improving strain robustness and process stability will also be discussed in this talk.
