2022 Annual Meeting
Novel PVA Membranes Functionalized with L-Arginine for Carbon Capture
Development of tunable high surface area poly(vinyl alcohol) amino acid composite polymer sorbents will be investigated for its potential for carbon capture from dilute streams. In order to further understand the polymer I will research the sorption capabilities, mechanical/morphological properties, and longevity. Utilizing this information will lead to a polymer that can regulate CO2 in cabin air, and catalyze new solutions for Martian biosphere development. This material advances space solutions while being environmentally friendly, biocompatible and non-hazardous.
