Influence of the Addition of Varying Concentrations of Additives on the Crystallization in Various PEO-B-PCL Diblock Copolymer Films

This study focused on the influence of the addition of varying concentrations of additives on the crystallization in various PEO-b-PCL diblock copolymer films. A Fourier transform infrared spectroscope (FTIR) with a temperature controller was used to quantify the effects of the additive on crystallization. A typical sample was casted from 1% chloroform solution varying concentrations of 400 g/mol PEO additive. In all molecular weights of PEO-b-PCL, the PEO crystallization peak in FTIR was shown to increase to some extent with an increase in the concentration of LMW PEO homopolymer. The addition of PEO additive showed evidence of switching the order of crystallization in all molecular diblock copolymers. Additionally, further evidence was developed that showed a differing result of the crystallization ratio produced from previous work using ethyl acetate as solvent.
