New product development in industrial research often involves solving complex problems requiring technological innovation with several constraints such as cost, scaleup and implementation. In this presentation, I will give a flavor of typical technical problems I have encountered in my career while working on new product development. I will show a few examples of how polymer material science can be utilized for problem solving in various technical areas. Specifically, I will talk about the work in the development of particle coating technology and materials for electric vehicles.
