(2ie) Interfacing Synthetic Biology with Electrochemistry and Biomolecular Condensate

My research program covers the interfaces of physical chemistry and synthetic biology. My postdoc work focuses on two distinct aspects: 1) developing generalizable design principles of synthetic biomolecular condensates for cellular control through interfacing protein engineering and synthetic gene circuits; 2) decoding the molecular rules of the interfacial phenomenon and microenvironments of biological soft matter (i.e., biomolecular condensates) and their impacts on cellular functions. These efforts delivered a new paradigm for orthogonal biological controls in living systems. My doctoral work focused on integrating synthetic gene circuits with electrochemistry for the developments of bioelectronic interfaces. These efforts resulted in multiple generalizable biosensing platforms and new concepts in analytical chemistry.
