(351t) Experimental Study of CO2 Solubility in Aqueous Solution of Monoethanolamine and 2-Amino-2-Methyl-Propanol Blended Amine Using Electrolyte-NRTL Model

The technology of reducing CO2 is a critical issue in various industries. Some kinds of alkanolamines have been used for CO2 absorption: primary (monoethanolamine, MEA), secondary (diisopropylamine, DIPA), tertiary (methyldiethanolamine, MDEA) and steric hindrance (2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol, AMP) amines. MEA has been used to process of CO2 sequestration because of high reactivity and reasonable cost. AMP is applied as a stable amine for high CO2 absorption capacity. In this study, equilibrium solubility of CO2 in MEA and AMP mixtures were evaluated by using experimental data and thermodynamic models. The solubility of CO2 was measured at various temperatures and amine mass fractions. The Electrolyte-NRTL model is used to estimate interactions between chemical species in liquid phase. To consider the non-ideality, activity coefficients, Electrolyte-NRTL model, were regressed from experimental data.
