Stem cells can be controlled through a variety of external stimuli including substrate mechanics, 2-dimensional vs 3-dimensional environment, and physicochemical stimuli. Here we will discuss the mechanism behind mechanotransduction in stem cells using myriad external stimuli toward complex tissue regeneration.
