Session: Process Intensification By Process Integration

Process Intensification (PI) refers to the transformation of a chemical process to make it significantly more efficient in terms of relevant process performance figures (e.g. energy consumption, miniaturization or cost-effectiveness). Options for PI include the realization of new reaction routes (using new catalysts), use of innovative solvents, use of alternative forms of energy, novel (e.g. structured) reactor design, integrated processes (e.g. reactive or hybrid separations) etc. This session in particular focuses on novel means of using process integration to achieve PI enhancements. Papers on practical implementations as well as methodological contributions are equally welcome.
