Session: Forum Plenary: Opportunities and Challenges with Journey from Industry 4.0 to Pharma 4.0 (Invited Talks)

Pharma 4.0, analogous to Industry 4.0, intends to utilize enabling technologies such as continuous processing, automation, predictive modeling, as well as machine learning in an integrated fashion to develop quality and cost effective pharmaceutical products. These technologies plays an important role in developing holistic control strategies along with product/process life cycle management. Being a relatively new area, it is drawing a lot of interest from academic and industrial folks, over the last few years. The plenary session has invited experts in this area to present their perspective and discuss their experiences around the opportunities and challenges in implementing these approaches (e.g. use of artificial intelligence, systems based pharmaceutics, etc.) in pharmaceutical industry. These talks hope to describe principles and fundamentals required to build the framework in being successful with the vision around Pharma 4.0.
