2019 AIChE Annual Meeting

Session: Digital Twin (Invited Talks)

The Digital Twin as a dynamic virtual representation of a manufacturing system, or a unit operation, utilizes real-time data, mechanistic modeling, integrated knowledge from data driven algorithms to enable understanding, learning and optimization of a process across its lifecycle. The Digital Twin is disrupting the entire Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), from manufacturing to service and operations. Within the Next-Gen Manufacturing and increasing digitalization in the stages of a manufacturing process, opportunities are opening up to achieve a higher productivity. This plenary session will cover the characteristics of Digital Twin technology, recent advancements, case studies, and future directions in the chemical industry dynamic and digital transformation.
