This lecture will describe recent developments in the design, synthesis and characterization of artificial protein networks. Examples will include the use of site-directed mutagenesis and ligand-binding to control mechanical relaxation behavior, and the development of spectroscopic methods for monitoring stress-induced unfolding of structured network elements.
