(227b) Capturing CO2 from the Atmosphere
Author
Todd Wilke - Presenter, Carbon Engineering Ltd.
Carbon Capture technology has focused on large point sources which account for 60% of total CO2 emissions, but most CO2 emissions are not amenable to capture at the source. Direct Air Capture (DAC) removes CO2 from the atmosphere and is a negative-emission technology. Carbon Engineering has developed a DAC process that will capture 1 million metric-tons of CO2 per year in a commercial scale plant. This presentation will discuss the unique technical challenges of DAC, the technologies developed at CE for initial commercialization, and the utilization pathways for the CO2 produced.
