Session: Tutorial on the Catalyst Cost Estimation Tool: Economic Insight for Catalyst Synthesis and Scale-up Research I (Invited Talks)

In the summer of 2018, NREL will be releasing a first-of-its-kind tool for estimating the bulk-scale production costs of precommercial catalysts. The tool will be free and publicly available and will enable (1) meaningful cost comparisons for precommercial catalysts at bulk scale, (2) identification of major cost drivers to guide further research, (3) sensitivity/risk analysis to aid commercialization of new catalysts and processes, and (4) assessment of the value proposition of advanced catalysts at early stages of development. The goal of this workshop is to provide a tutorial on how to use the tool and how to use the information provided by the tool to inform research and development.
