2018 AIChE Annual Meeting
Session: Materials Chemistry for Biosensors
This session will feature talks that explore the materials chemistry underlying various biosensor devices, such as but not limited to optical sensors (color change), electronic/electrical sensing (chemiresistors, FETs), plasmonic sensors. Materials systems of interest include polymers, ceramic, organic-inorganic hybrids such as metal organic frameworks, as well as graphene and carbon nanotubes. The session encourages submissions that will foster scientific discussions towards identifying underlying mechanisms that are responsible for various sensing related phenomena, particularly differentiating between specific and non-specific binding phenomena, which to this day remain un-explained. By bringing communities in chemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering together, this session will provide an interactive platform for cross-pollinating advances made by these communities as well as to explore ideas to bring them closer scientifically.
