2018 AIChE Annual Meeting
Session: Biocolloids, Biomolecules, and Nanomaterials of Medical Relevance
The study of colloidal phenomena has been recently associated with microorganisms and provide new insights on cell assembly at fluid interfaces. Cells can produce biomolecules, be controlled by colloidal particles, or be assimilated to biocolloids. The size, composition of the particles interacting with cells in various contexts (e.g. bioremediation, dental health) accounts for the selections of the biocolloids. This session presents advances made to sequester colloids from or with cells, and to generate nanomaterials that can alleviate the deleterious effects of pathogens. Supported by the AIChE Foundation
