Abstract:
Coal is still the primary energy in
China and it is predicted more coal will be used by gasification instead of
combustion. Coal gasification is regarded as the key technology for clean coal
utilization. The volatile char interaction during gasification is regarded as
one key factor on char structure and char activity. Two novelty crucibles with
double layer and separated space are designed to investigate the volatile char
interaction during pyrolysis. The crucible A is divided into two layer by the
platinum mesh. The volume of upper and bottom of the crucible is equal. This
crucible is used for investigate the interaction between volatile and char
directly. Compared with crucible A, the bottom part of crucible B is divided
into two parts. Although the samples are isolated, but the reaction between
volatile from bottom could occur under the mesh. In hence, we can investigate
the effect of volatile after reaction on the char. The crucible with the same
design but large size is also used for preparing char sample, and the char
structure is analyzed by Raman, and the reactivity is analyzed by TG. The
volatile char interaction between one typical anthracite, biomass and one low
rank coal are investigated in this work. The results will help to understand
the degree of char-volatile interaction during gasification and may help to
design the gasifier.
