The gradual increase of airport capacities has lead to an increase of the amount of solid waste. Thus there is a need for sustainable waste management which in turn requires input from experimental studies. The aim of this study was to perform an analysis of the solid waste produced at the Astana International Airport in Kazakhstan. Based on the solid waste charactreristics and amount, different waste management scenarios are compared. The waste management scenarios developed in this work will be a useful tool for decision makers in environmental waste management in airports.
