Although literature on adsorption kinetics modeling is rich the majority of models employed are empirical, based on chemical reaction kinetics or oversimplified versions of diffusion models. In this lecture the most used batch reactor adsorption kinetics models are presented and compared to a two-phase homogeneous diffusion model equipped with a double-selectivity isotherm. The merits and pitfalls of all models are discussed with focus on repeated mistakes in the literature, which can help to prevent their propagation in scientific knowledge.
