Energy sustainability is essential for the continuity of the societyâs modern life and their further development. The energy demands rising as a result of the worldwide population growing while fossil fuel is yet the main energy resource to meet this high demand. In 2016, many countries have signed the Paris agreement to reduce the global warming elevated levels by using industrial technology-driven innovations and get the world ready for the new energy era. Nanotechnology applications in the energy sectors may land a solution for the energy security challenge. We have synthesized several inexpensive and scalable novel nano-platforms for a number of energy applications. Examples include converting the less-valuable materials into lighter clean fuel and boosting oil recovery beyond waterflood. In this talk, we will share examples of these smart nanomaterials and the lights will be shed on their synthesis, characterization and contribution to the field.
