2017 Annual Meeting
Session: Microbial Engineering for Human Health (Invited Talks)
There is ever-increasing evidence that the various microbiomes that inhabit the different niches of the body have significant impacts on the health of the human host. Similarly, administration of various probiotics has also been reported to positively impact the health of the human host. These findings as along with recent advances in synthetic biology have created opportunities to engineer microbes as living therapeutic or diagnostic vectors. The focus of this session is to highlight recent advances in engineering probiotics and/or the microbiome to promote human health. Supported by the AIChE Foundation.
