Session: Area Plenary: Sustainability and the RAPID (Rapid Advancement in Process Intensification Deployment) Manufacturing Institute (Invited Talks)

In support of the recent announcement by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to support the Rapid Advancement in Process Intensification Deployment (RAPID) Manufacturing Institute of AIChE in the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI), this session will host invited speakers associated with RAPID to speak about their efforts. Talks will focus on the means by which the application of process intensification will lead to cost and energy savings as well as increase efficiency and productivity with the lens of sustainability. The energy-intensive industries that are represented in RAPID include chemical processing, pulp and paper, and metals draw upon a variety of specialties ranging from separations, catalysis, and transport processes to kinetics and reaction engineering.
