(586f) Influence of Transport Properties and Correlations Between Properties in Process Modelin
Authors
This contribution as first part presents a study on the correlation between different substance properties and the effect on simulation results. Different correlation coefficients are evaluated and property-property-relationships are introduced into process models. It can be shown that the effect of these correlations can often be neglected.
In a second part the influence of transport properties such as viscosity and thermal conductivity on stationary process models is studied. Sensitivity on e.g. viscosity is often quite small. However, the effects related to viscosity can be pronounced, since viscosity can be varied within a large range of values. Other properties, such as heat capacity, have an effect on heat transport contradicting its effect on energy demand for heating. These effects are evaluated in this study.
This contribution demonstrates the aspects discussed above on the example of processes used for energy storage. A method for identifying potentials for improving processes is deduced.
