(431d) Practical Aspects in Using Distillation VLE and Enthalpy Models
Distillation is a very common Unit Operation today and various simulation tools make it very easy to run a simple distillation tower. Behind that simulation is the âheartâ of that tower. That âHeartâ is the VLE and enthalpy model that the user has chosen. Frequently, users are inexperienced at understanding the background and the limitations of the model they have chosen. It is the intent of this presentation to take the authors practical experiences, with some common distillation applications, and show where todayâs user can benefit from these experiences. Model choices will be discussed as well as some practical methods to vet a model properly before it is rigorously employed.
