2016 AIChE Annual Meeting

Session: Design and Optimization of Environmentally Sustainable Advanced Fossil Energy Systems

The objective of this session is to present new computational approaches for the design of environmentally sustainable, advanced fossil energy systems. The resulting systems should significantly reduce GHG emissions, improve water management and minimize life cycle environmental impacts, while being cost effective. The computational approaches should include multi-criteria optimization, process synthesis, and process intensification through the use and development of rigorous process models. Of particular interest are novel, integrated fossil energy systems which go well beyond current state of the art. Novel systems employing transformational carbon capture systems, advanced fuel cells, and chemical looping are also of interest.
