2016 AIChE Annual Meeting

Session: Catalytic Hydrogen Generation

Catalysts have an important role in generation of hydrogen from fossil fuels, such as natural gas and coal, as well as biorenewable feedstocks for applications which include methanol/ammonia synthesis, fuel upgrading in refineries, production of Fischer-Tropsch fuels, vehicles (fuel cells and internal combustion engines) and electricity generation. This session addresses fundamentals, challenges and technology advances in catalysis related to all aspects of hydrogen generation including electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, reforming, gasification, water gas shift and clean-up. Papers address theory, kinetics, catalyst preparation, characterization, testing, lifetime evaluation and optimization of operational limits.
