We developed and/or deployed anion- (mostly hydroxide) conducting materials for several applications. These applications include metal-air batteries, alkaline fuel cells, redox flow batteries and electrochemical reactors of various types. The different environments in which the membranes operate entail different requirements. We will provide an overview of the membrane behavior in these applications to illustrate critical properties. In addition, we will discuss our studies of various electrocatalysts for use in alkaline systems, operated as primary or secondary cells.
