Lignin, the most abundant renewable aromatic polymer on earth, is usually treated as a waste stream in the biorefinery industry. Developing new applications for lignin as valuable products or materials is a well-recognized challenge. Here, we present a template free method for synthesizing lignin-resorcinolâ??formaldehyde porous gel with high lignin loading, by utilizing lignin with low molecular weight and less condensation. Up to 75% lignin loading was obtained by blending lignin.
