2015 AIChE Annual Meeting Proceedings
Session: Nanostructured Biomimetic and Biohybrid Materials and Devices
Papers within this session will focus on topics such as biological based materials, biomolecule and biohybrid structures, biomimetics and artificial materials that mimic physiochemical properties and interactions of biological molecules studied using experimental and/or computational methods. The session will highlight the research in rational design of self-assembling protein-based systems, designed peptides/proteins to form responsive systems and/or “smart” biomimetic materials, enzyme-nanomaterials interaction for biohybrid-based applications, and tailored network structures mimicking biological structure and design. The contributing papers in this session will also encourage cross-pollination of ideas and nurture synergy between experiments and computational approaches for development of nanostructured biomimetic and biohybrid materials. Of particular interest are the uses of nanostructured and nanoscale materials in the development of novel therapeutic, diagnostic, biosensors or tissue engineering devices. Bionanotechnology Graduate students: By applying to this session you may be eligible for the 22b Bionanotechnology Graduate Student Award Session (22B09) established to honor students whose research achievements in bionanotechnology demonstrates a high level of excellence. See session 22B09 for more details.
